JANUARY – 9:03 AM SOMEWHERE IN AN IT CONFERENCE ROOM. TOPIC: S/4HANA ROLL-OUT
Business leader: “This year, we’ve been committed to planning our S/4HANA project. How far have we come with the preparations?”
IT Manager: “We still haven’t done much. There was a webinar on roll-out strategies that recommended the greenfield approach, beginning, so to speak, with a new, blank system. But that would be extremely laborious and expensive.”
Basis Team Lead: “Really? Why can’t we carry out an upgrade?“
IT Manager: “I don‘t know. All possible approaches are being discussed: greenfield, brownfield, some are even discussing a multi-colored approach. I can’t work out how we should orient ourselves to the right path.”
Business leader: “But our plan is to go live in March of next year, right? That means… we’ve only got… (looks at calendar) …15 months.”
Does this situation sound familiar?
The deadline for going live draws closer and closer. No one from the department has gotten involved yet and it’s unclear how you should proceed. All sorts of great-sounding roll-out strategies are touted in the relevant media. Everyone seems to have an answer. But no one is asking the crucial question: How do I determine which implementation strategy is best for my company?
This whitepaper will tell you more about it.
